John resides in Christchurch NZ, and is a foundation member and was Drum Sergeant of the band from 2009 until 2022. For many years, John was a member of the Canterbury Caledonian Society’s Pipe Band, which has one of New Zealand’s premier drum corps.  During that time, he gained great experience competing at grade 1 level.  As a tutor to bands in Christchurch and further afield, John has made a great contribution to pipe band drumming in the city.
