David Jensen
Piper
David resides in Christchurch NZ, and has been a member of the band since 2022 when the band travelled to Edinburgh. David started learning the pipes in 1991 as an 11-year-old at St Andrew’s College, Christchurch. He continued with the college band until April 1998, after it competed in Grade 3 at the Australian National Championships. He was Pipe Sergeant. David continued playing in solo competitions for short while longer, but then his career as a cameraman in the Film and Broadcast industry took priority, and so his pipes stayed in their box.
In 2019, after a 20-year break from piping, David joined the ranks of the Scottish Society of New Zealand #2 Pipe Band, where his passion for piping and the band camaraderie was reinvigorated.
In 2022, he joined the Pipes and Drums of Christchurch City when it travelled to Scotland for the Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle, and he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
